I am drawn to places of quiet. The patterns and rhythms of life evolving
and changing. Wild and untouched forces that can’t be restrained,
like a raging springtime river.
My works are Intimate portraits of a place in time, only a small piece
of the events surrounding the the image.
After drawing a raw first impression of a place, I return to my studio
to create monotypes.
Monotype is like a natural force, tamed only as the artist works with
all the variables. The viscosity of the ink used, the ability of the
paper to absorb ink, the amount of pressure applied by the press and
the effect of atmospheric conditions on all the variables make each
work unique.
Monotype is an art method where the manner of working is as individual
as the artist.
My first PAN site is land divided into three beautiful wooded parcels
by the Big Cobb River as it winds downstream into the Lesueur River.
The Lesueur River flows into the Blue Earth River which flows into
the Minnesota River. As the Minnesota River makes it’s way north,
on the east bank is my other PAN site, the Kasota Prairie Scientific
and Natural area and the restored Kasota Prairie. The Cobb River and
Kasota Prairie sites contain river, wetlands and prairie, Maple /
Basswood and Oak Woods, spring ephemerals and late fall gentian...
endless beauty and inspiration.
